After an uncomfortable opening press conference to address the scandal from last week’s episode, we stop down for some hope and optimism in the weekly earnings report – a rare double win from the Titans and Browns! Awards are given, mailrooms are visited, all leading to the break room to talk about the start of the NBA season. Fun visits from the ghost of Coach Lou and Harambe.

Misery Sports Co. Episode 40 Transcript

Can we quiet down? Folks, folks. Folks. Sir. Sir. I’m ready. Can we get him out, sir? I’m trying to start. I’d like to open with this quick press conference. Um, the prepared statement. I made a comment last week that I guess went out over the air. That I am deeply ashamed of. If I’ve heard anyone out there. I can’t tell you how much I say this from the bottom of my heart. I’m so very, very sorry. I don’t know if I’m going to be putting on this headset again. I will say that while I do take complete responsibility for me, saying a bad word that wasn’t bleeped, that was entirely the Tennessee Titans fault. Uh, but I will make this commitment to you now. You will not hear a curse word bleeped or otherwise from me now through the end of the year, even when we talk about the guy. Thank you. Thank you everybody. Thank you for knowing that even when we talk about the guy that traded Luca, um, at this point, I guess I’ll I’ll take some questions, sir. What? What who let the Swedish chef in here? Just get him out. Get him out! Get him out! Stop, stop! Get out! Uh, you know what? No questions. Tighten up. Start the show. Welcome back to Misery Sports Co. I’m Zach and I’m Trevor. We’ve got another jam packed episode here. We are going to go through some of our typical format weekly performance review the mail room office and moral victories. And then we’re going to take a trip to the break room with the beginning of the NBA season. But before we go to our weekly performance review, Trevor who’s our first sponsor. Start getting great sleep with Will Stines go big Blue mattress collection from Sleep Number. Rest easy every night knowing that your team is going to follow the same formula every time. Stay close. Force overtime and win on a two point conversion. Your only trouble at night will be figuring out what kind of trash. I’m sorry. Excuse me. Uh, excuse me sir. Holy cow! Holy crap. That’s all I’m saying. See? I’m holding to it. Your only trouble at night will be figuring out what kind of trash talk you want to scream at the other coach as he calls a flea flicker at exactly the wrong moment. Just like you planned. And for your partner that wants to sleep on something harder that doesn’t feel as good, but will get the job done, try the new Miami Pillow. Does it work? I mean, technically, yeah. I guess you’re gonna like it. Not really. All new this year from sleep number. Thank you. Sleep number. We appreciate your advertisement dollars and rest easy knowing there’s something for you. Indeed. Welcome to our weekly performance review, where we go across the sports landscape. Could be our teams, could be some teams that we’ve covered in our deep dives recently. Trevor, what do you got this week? Zach. After wandering the desert for five long weeks, the Tennessee Titans have finally won a football game. Let’s go! Give it up. Woo woo woo woo. The Tennessee Titans have won. They beat the Indianapolis Colts twenty six to twenty after being down at halftime thirteen to zero. We scored zero points in the first half and it was bleak as down bad as I was last week. Uh, it was more the same at halftime. Was really just trying to distract myself, uh, not care about it, just do anything else I could. And then stuff started happening. The Titans rattled off twenty points in the fourth quarter behind a punt block touchdown, which I don’t remember the last time that happened. It’s been forever. And Carnell Tate’s first NFL touchdown. Congratulations Carnell Tate he’s got a tuddy. Now speaking of Carnell Tate sack he had six catches seventy yards and a touchdown. His twenty nine catches for three hundred and forty four yards are the most productive first six games of a career in Titans wide receiver history, edging out our boy that we used to watch in college Kenny Britt. You remember Kenny. Kenny Britt I do yeah. Catching balls from Vince Young. What a time. Uh, here’s a sad fact for you. Just to put our misery kind of in perspective. Carnell Tate just needs one hundred and seventy one more receiving yards to pass our leading receiver season total from last year. Okay, he just needs one hundred and seventy one more yards. And he’ll have more than, uh, like Ironman or had all of last year. And he was our leading receiver. So that tells you how desperately we needed a wide receiver one. And Carnell Tate looks the part. Zach hey, we’re trending up. I mean somebody gave a really good comp, uh, on Twitter. I saw it comparing him to AJ green. I really like that comp. Like dude just gets open. He’s a number one. Like he’s, he’s looking like a number one receiver. I mean, he can get open. He can catch the ball contested catches, acrobatic catches, you name it. You just got to give him the ball. That’s the most important part. That does seem to be the issue. And for the entire first half cam Ward was unable to do that. I will say second half was a little bit better, but there were lots of tweets going around this week about how cam Ward basically had the worst game of a quarter. A winning quarterback in a decade plus, he had a really bad game but was still able to win. A big part of why we won, Zack, is that big. Jeff Simmons and the D-line really took over in the second half. Jeff Simmons alone had four solo tackles, three tackles for loss, three sacks, three sacks. Crazy. Uh, two other quarterback hits, a forced fumble. He recovered that fumble, uh, and just overall was an agent of chaos out there. Love him. Apparently he had a really inspiring halftime speech to the boys that fired them up. And it was just delightful watching, uh, the Indianapolis Colts, who had beat us six times in a row, uh, just collapse in a game that they really needed after Zach. The Colts are in a bad way. They do not own their first round picks for the next two years, so it’s going to be three years before they get a first round pick and they are down bad. I think I saw that their owner fired their GM this week. It was so bad that GM got fired after the Titans game. Uh. It’s Jim Irsay, his daughter, who’s running things now. Um, she’s at least the figurehead. And she did take the step of firing, uh, their GM Chris Ballard more to come on that when we get to the mail room. But all that to say, the Titans finally win a game. Um, my coworkers made comments that they were thankful for my mental health. I think it’s starting to bleed over into my personal life. Zach. Uh, my work life has been, has been not great. So people are concerned for me and at least for one week, for one glorious week, I was provided with some sweet relief and a win. And it felt great. It felt absolutely great. And that’s all I’m reporting on today. We’re going to talk more about our other teams here when we get to the break room in a little bit. But Zach, how are your earners this week? Well, Trevor, before we get into the the good news, I do have some some sad news. Oh, no. We, uh, we gather here to tonight to honor a legacy, a season for the Cleveland Guardians Cleveland Guardians. Trevor. I watched so many postseason games. Just countless. So I just countless Eight six eight eight. Two one. Six two. Can’t do much. Just can’t do that. Give me the cliff notes. I was there, baby. I’m learning people’s names in October. Congrats on winning the Al central. Jose, you’re my dude. You deserved an ALCS and you deserve to go to a World Series. The rest of the team is just straight brutal. I mean, one through three. Okay, you guys can bat, okay? But holy cow. I know the bats were were rough for the season. They just fell off a cliff. Went from up two one against the Tampa Bay rays to four two. Trevor that’s a wrap. And again, we do want to say apologies and love to their families who are here for the funeral. Um they yeah. Your players did play like dog crap, but, uh, we enjoyed the ride, but we wanted to honor you and we’ll see you honoring you next postseason. Opening day. Uh. Maybe not. Yeah. We’ll see. You know. Yeah. All right. Yeah. So Guardians were out. However, in the World Series one of Misery Sports Co’s teams. We’ve got the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series. Congratulations to Milwaukee. I know it’s a little bit of a rival for you. MM. That’s a look. Hey that’s. That’s far enough. They can lose. They’re still part of Misery Sports Co for sure. Yep. Jumping into the Cleveland Browns who are just I don’t even know how to describe it Trevor. We played the Baltimore Ravens. We had a home game. We’re three and two coming off a just rough New York Jets loss. And we were off to a terrible start. Two very similar to the Titans. We were down ten zero real quick. The Ravens drove down their first drive, scored a touchdown, came back their second drive, kicked a field goal. Trevor, the Baltimore Ravens after that scored zero points. Our defense clamped them down. This defense is crazy. Um granted they didn’t have Lamar Jackson. But I mean they have Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers, Mark Andrews. They got a ton of weapons. And um, they just kept fighting. Kept fighting keeping the offense in the game, which the offense for the Browns is atrocious. Uh, the first three quarters didn’t do much. Then in the fourth quarter, we just we just start making plays and it’s happened four times now, Trevor, where we have had the game winning drive in the fourth quarter in all four wins. So wow, we scored the game tying touchdown in the fourth. We get the ball back. Kicker misses a potential go ahead. Field goal. We end up getting the ball back again because our defense is awesome. And our kicker made it with three seconds. Ticked it down all the way to zero. Got the dub and fourth quarter. Fourth quarter comeback wins that many that must. I wouldn’t know anything about that. That sounds incredible and I’m very happy for the Browns. I saw I guess a comparison or an like an illustration of this. Trevor and I completely agree. It’s something along the lines of the Cleveland Browns. Just like bring you out into deep ocean water. It’s ugly. And we’re just gonna fistfight you until one of us drowns. And then we’re going to swim back and it’s a two point win. Our offense, we have some playmakers, but Deshaun is just I’ve got a couple interesting stats that I’ll share for the mail room. On Deshaun. But it’s like if you can literally just play like it’s the fourth quarter for the entire game, we are going to be unstoppable. Absolutely unstoppable. So Browns are four and two and we go to the Tennessee Titans. The Misery Sports Co Super Bowl. The Super Bowl. I’m telling you if you score three points that’s probably going to be enough. Uh we’re not moving against that defense. It’s just not happening. Strange things happen, Trevor. Strange things happen. These are the games the Browns always blow, and it’s just. Cam Ward’s going to look like a freaking superstar. Star destroyer. And Carnell Tate’s gonna get buckets. I don’t know, man. I, I could see some rookie wide receivers having great games and none of them play for the Titans. I think I think your two could have huge huge games. We just need a solid Trevor, that’s all. I mean, we’ll we’ll slide a third round pick under the table. We just need a win. I just I’m so tired of being out here. The Ravens and the Steelers. Everyone’s at two losses in my division. I can’t get anything. It’s ridiculous. Even though we beat the Ravens and we’re first place, we’re still tied with them. And the Pittsburgh Steelers have the same exact record as us. And the Bengals have the same record, but they didn’t play last week. I’m I’m willing to to throw a game the Browns way because it gets us that much closer to the dream of Carnell Tate on one side. Jeremiah Smith on the other side. Oh yeah. Give it all. He’s down there somewhere. He’s just throw it. He’s squeezing that ball like a freaking squirrel squeezes a nut. Somebody told me this week, Zach, that if my Titans have the first pick, that Jeremiah is going back to school. No, I mean theoretically. I need you to categorically reject that. And the your side did not do great things for me. So I don’t like how much you thought about that in the n I l era. Ohio State could throw out a number if Jeremiah wanted, you know, looked at the top three and was like, I don’t oh my God, he’s going to Tennessee. Don’t worry. He’s going to Tennessee. Don’t worry about it. Who’s going to throw the ball. Trevor Julian saying just like broke his shoulder off his body. I’m saying the same thing over here. Who’s gonna throw him the ball in Nashville? I don’t care, I just want to buy the jersey. I selfishly want him to come here, even if it’s the worst spot for him. Come on down, baby. It is fine if you had to pick a spot. If the Chargers keep sucking, that would be pretty tight because I think Justin Herbert would be, uh, happy to sling it around. But anyway, he’s going to be a Titan. He’ll be a Titan, let’s just say. That’s right. Yeah. Let’s just not play the game. We’ll just say the Browns one and we’ll just move on. Oh, and we just figured it out before we started the show that I can’t even see the game because our map covers five percent of the country, the Browns and the Titans. So doesn’t even hit Columbus. It’s great. Yeah. Awesome. That’s all right. I’ll I’ll keep an eye on it. And I’ll make sure you stay abreast of what is happening very abreast. Uh, before we jump into the mail room, another word from one of our sponsors. Welcome to the elite training program for aspiring Texas Tech Bell ringers. Big Bell Co candidates undergo rigorous physical and psychological testing, learning to ring with passion while maintaining the seductive thousand yard stare of someone who’s making intense eye contact with a camera operator for reasons nobody can explain. The final exam. Ring a bell while that camera zooms in and a commentator says. And there you see the spirit of this university. Tuition includes a red shirt, noise cancelling headphones, and a mandatory media training for when your awkward reaction becomes a GIF. Ah. That’s how much we’ve watched that video that you know what the announcer says while he’s doing it. Please, listeners, if you haven’t. Yeah, it’s worth going to check out Bell. GIF at the very least, or GIF or whatever the hell the kids say. Yeah. You will not be disappointed. You will not. Whatever you think it is, you’re wrong. Go! Go! Watch. It’s incredible stuff. Oh, man. All right, let’s jump into the mail room where we look across the Twittersphere. Trevor, who do you have this week? So I want to be clear. The winner for me this week, far and away, is something that I can’t read to you. But it’s something that I swear I’ve watched one hundred and fifty times this week. Have you seen the AI video of the college coaches at Tiny Desk with Marcus Freeman playing the saxophone? It’s the greatest. I’m not a big AI video guy. It’s the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. And every time it crosses my timeline, I stop down and watch it. The divorce smile, the Cincinnati little bum bum bum calling for the horn from the truck. Every part of it is genius and I love it so much. I want to be very clear that’s the winner this week. Um, I do have a couple. After you’re done, I guess watching the bell ringing to our listeners, go check that out. Uh, I do have a couple runners up and they all focus on Chris Ballard, the fired, uh, Indianapolis GM. Zack. People did not like him. Colts fans were ready to move on. Uh, for example, Trevor Knapp at Knapp Bet says Chris Ballard defrauded Colts fans more than Elizabeth Holmes did Theranos investors. Kevin Clark says I’d have pressed the hard reset button on the Colts in twenty twenty two, when they lost a do or die game to a two and fourteen Jaguars teams whose fans were protesting their own dysfunction by dressing up as clowns. They all dressed up as clowns in the Colts still lost that game, Kevin says. You cannot lose that game. Jags have been great team since the Colts have not. And finally, uh, Tyler Semler says woke up and Chris Ballard is still employed the day before he got fired. And he says, never give up on your dreams, kids. So Chris Ballard, happy trails, happy trails. He honestly might be happy. That owner is crazy. That lady, she’s like on a headset asking people about plays during the game, going to coaches. Like what? We’re in the middle of a game, lady. Like you can’t start quizzing me. Ask me after the game, what are you doing? Doing what? Jerry Jones only dreams of doing. He would love to do that. But she’s. She’s doing it. Yeah, she’s pretty crazy to watch. Yeah, I think Jerry was just caught off guard. Like, I didn’t even know I could do that. Oh, that’s the thing we could do this whole time. I can do that. And now he’s too old. Now he can’t get down to the field. Now he’s got to sit in his box. So. Yeah. Uh, but congrats. Um, Zach, what do you got this week? All right. I’m pretty, uh, pretty Cleveland focused this week. And to all the listeners to shoot us out some of your your funny tweets at Misery Sports Co give us a mention. We will put them on the show. Okay. Yes, we will give us some stuff. But this is Cleveland heavy. All right. Singapore, let me hear from you. Let’s go at Daniel. Oh yeah. Fuzzy. Deshaun Watson’s QB are in the first three quarters of the game of games this season, so the first three quarters of every game, his QBR is twenty two point six, which is thirty second out of thirty three quarterbacks. Horrible. Like I said Deshaun Watson who’s the thirty third. Zach who’s the thirty third. Zach probably you know you know who the thirty third is. Sorry. What’s the fourth quarter. Tell us what the fourth quarter Deshaun Deshaun QB are in the fourth quarter of games this season is seventy point four which is ninth in the league. He is a top ten quarterback in the fourth quarter. We just need him to literally play like it’s the fourth quarter, the whole game. I don’t get it. Uh the next one is from at Castro. Vince. New record. Just dropped most consecutive postseason trips without winning the World Series in MLB history. Cleveland Guardians are now number one with seventeen postseason trips without winning the World Series, spanning, uh, like seventy years, Twenty six. Braves had the second with sixteen. Cubs were at third with fourteen. Postseason trips. So that’s a little rough for the Guardians. Mhm. Um, wanted to end on a positive though for the defense. So at D Murph Brown’s PR Brown’s defense. Current rankings first in tackles for loss with thirty nine first and fewest rushing TDs allowed with one in six games, second in sacks with nineteen and tied for third in forced fumbles with seven. Defense is nasty. Oh my gosh, it’s gonna be a bloodbath. Nasty. All right. Well, before we jump into our office of Moral Victories, Trevor who is our next sponsor this Halloween ring in the spooky season with a blast from the past. Lower the lights, light a candle, join hands, and bust out the all new Ouija Board sports edition. Ask the spirits. When will your team win again? Will it take another six games? Was the Music City miracle really a lateral? Oh my gosh. I didn’t even finish the question and it flew to yes because it was. Yes. It was a lateral ask. Life’s important questions like why are we here? How did something come from nothing and who’s going to win the a f C North? And if you happen to have a pint of goat’s blood and the baby teeth of a squirrel, you can summon a spirit from the Great Beyond. Wait, wait, wait a second, I think I think we’re being visited now. Are you there? Spirit? What important message do you have from the great beyond? Mark may still show. It. Please. And please. Keep. Keep buying my dog slobber. My great grandkids College funds depend on it. Enjoy the holiday season with Ouija Board Sports Edition available exclusively at Cracker Barrel. It’s like the. It’s like the sticks of obsession or something. Like what? Cracker barrel? Why do I have to go there? Oh, man. Ah, well, I’m glad they’re available. And it seems like I can interact with this one. The last one we had. It wouldn’t even give me an offer. I couldn’t even offer my soul for the Browns to make the playoff. So what? Can’t. Whoa! It wasn’t to make the playoffs. You wanted a playoff win if I remember playoff win. Yeah yeah. No. Couldn’t do it. We can’t do like a good third quarter No, I want a playoff win. Okay. Uh, well, thank you for the Ouija board. And it was nice to hear from from old Lou Holtz. Mhm. All right. Let’s jump into the Office of Moral Victories. Here is where we pick our employees of the week from across the sports landscape. Trevor, who are your employee or employees of the week? Last time, it was a tie between the University of Kentucky football team and the Grim Reaper, who assured me that one day he will come for me and release me from this pain. But this week it is none other than the Dallas Star forward, the moose Mikko Rantanen, who had a hat trick last night against the Boston Bruins including an overtime winner, had the old Nattie Hattie three straight goals. We only scored three and won it in overtime. Congratulations Mikko Rantanen. Well done. Moose. The moose is loose. Yeah. Heck, yeah. All right, well, my employees of the week, I don’t even I don’t even know. I guess I just handed it out to all of whoever’s running college football. Twenty four team playoff. What are we doing? I don’t understand what’s happening. Is it happening next year is what allegedly yeah. Twenty twenty seven. Yeah. Okay. So, uh, I guess shout out to them. But then the one that I really wanted to hand out this week, college football refs. Trevor, what is going on? Western Michigan ending Notre Dame is the the next one. They actually came out and said, hey, there was one one second left or there should have been was. Yep. Um, and on top of that, I mean, obviously we have a big ten bias because that’s the most games that we watch, but I cannot watch Jeremiah Smith get held another time without a pass interference. He hasn’t Trevor hasn’t had that a pass interference call against him since his freshman year, almost eighteen months ago? I what are we doing? Yeah, I don’t know. So employees of the week get it together. Yeah. It reminds me of a center in basketball that is getting fouled just all the time. But because they’re bigger, they just refuse to call stuff. And if you’re getting tackled and held, it doesn’t matter your size or if you’re bigger, make the call. Right. And I’m sure it’s, it’s going across the, the college landscape at this point. I mean, every time I look, there’s a replay that’s wrong. There’s something critical going on. So I don’t know. They got to focus on the product because right now they’re at risk of losing attention with this bigger playoff and all these different things I don’t know. We’ll see. Not great. We shall see. Well before we head into the break room, we have our last sponsor. They thought the nightmare was over. They thought the memes had died. They thought the Tribute T-shirts had finally been taken off clearance at Hot Topic. They were wrong. This Halloween, Harambe returns with an army of genetically enhanced gorillas, a golden twelve foot statue, and a personal vendetta against the entire state of Ohio. As cities fall and Wi-Fi networks collapse, one man must make the ultimate sacrifice change his profile picture back to a normal photograph of himself from the studio that brought you Harambe’s revenge. Dawn of the dead. Out comes the sequel, harambe’s revenge the Enclosure Awakens. Coming to theaters October twenty first. I must have missed the the first installment. You hadn’t seen Harambe’s revenge. Dawn of the dead. Out. That was a great one, Trevor. That one was like seventy eight percent on Rotten Tomatoes. I mean, the audience loved it even more than that rowdy tease. Loved it. Shoot, I gotta check that out. Man. I’m behind. Yeah. Oh, man. He’s. So he got together a gang of gorillas. That was so fierce that cities are falling and we don’t have Wi-Fi anymore. Like, if you if you think too, too much about the plot, it’s kind of like I’m just envisioning tens of thousands of gorillas that cover skyscrapers and just a wave of them. It could be confused with planet of the apes. Uh, that was not the intention. He may be part like it could be like a merging of the planet of the apes, like Harambe is there. All right. And he leads the genetically modified gorilla army. Sure. We’re just we’re just spitballing here. We’re just. It’s already out. You gotta go see it. It’s just a trailer. We’ll go see it, I don’t know. Fantastic. There’s a lot of good movies coming out this holiday. I’m looking forward. There’s always good Halloween. Halloween flick? Absolutely. All right. Instead of our deep dive, we are going to jump into the break room here in the break room, we are going to talk about the beginning of the twenty twenty six NBA season, big time here at Misery Sports Co. A lot of NBA teams that we’ve covered within our deep dives. We’ve got our own teams. Uh Trevor, what are you looking toward this season? I hate to sound like a broken record because I came into this season with the Titans. Really? Just saying it is a year for youth and growth, right? I wanted to see our young players get playing time. Want to see what we got up and just give a really low bar for our young players to test themselves against. And here I am kind of saying something similar with the Dallas Mavericks because we’re entering, um, uh, Cooper Flagg’s second year, and we now get to see what that looks like with our new rookie, Maurice Johnson from University of Michigan with a new coach in dusty May who has never coached NBA before. Um, we have a couple other, uh, rookies, thanks to some draft day trades. Uh, Sergio de la Raya, who may be a fun guard for us, but we also see the kids mixed with Kyrie. Who’s coming back? Um yeah. After a big injury and I don’t I really don’t know what that’s going to look like. Um, I could envision a scenario in which we get close to the trade deadline to where the Mavericks are not doing well, and we let Kyrie go to a contender and make a last run. But it’s it’s been funny over the off season reading how much Kyrie means to the organization and how much everybody values his leadership. When he came to the Mavericks back uh four years ago now. Uh I thought that that was a terrible move. I remember in our group chat just thinking this is the end of stability and Luka’s gonna leave. Little did I know. And I just thought it was going to be a really bad idea. And I’ve just been so impressed with Kyrie and the stability that he has brought from a leadership standpoint. He’s been a great culture guy and he’s still been playing excellent basketball when he’s healthy. So, um, all that to say, I think this is going to be a bad basketball team. Uh, the over under for this team is, is thirty four and a half. So we’re looking at something around thirty five and forty seven is what folks are forecasting for this team. And, um, I, we opened against the rockets tonight. I think the games, uh, almost done and we were up twenty six twenty four and I blinked and we were down seventeen points. And then I blinked again and we were down thirty one points. So like, it’s going to be one of those kinds of seasons. Derek Lively is still hurt. He might never play again. Our training staff messed him up and it’s. I hope he takes some sort of legal action against the medical team that was here during his time, because they really messed him up. And it was he had such a promising career and it it really sucks. Um, so yeah, I don’t have high hopes for this team, but dang, I am really excited about watching Cooper Flagg. Yeah, I was just about to say I checked out the box score, you know? Yes, they are down twenty right now. It’s the first game of the season. Let’s not read too much into it. But first game Cooper Flags got thirty points on sixteen shots. Like that’s fantastic. You take that ethical basketball. Yep. That is efficient. The rest of the team not so much. But first game of the season they’ll be fine. Yeah we’ll see. We’ll we’ll see. At least you just want something fun to watch and like it’s probably big Jeff and Carnell for the Titans. And it’s going to be Cooper flag and and maybe mores I don’t know. We’ll we’ll see how he does. But that’s what’s happening in Maverick land. Zach, give me some hope. How are we feeling about the Cavaliers? Because I’m ready. I’m feeling pretty good, Trevor. Uh, so at Misery Sports Co, you know, most people have a team that’s kind of like that anchor that that tentpole when things get crazy, the Cavaliers have honestly been that. So they’ve been good for a while now. Donovan Mitchell’s been there for a while. He signed an extension. Um we actually have a pretty good team Trevor. So we have Donovan Mitchell, Jared Allen, Evan Mobley. And we just recently traded for Peyton Watson from the Denver Nuggets. So he’s a six eight wing. Exactly what we needed. We have no wing play. So we have those four guys signed for at least the next three years. Some of them are four to five years. So a great core. Unfortunately, part of that core, which I don’t really want to talk about, is James Harden, who signed a three year, ninety seven million dollars deal. So he is stuck with this core until we can ship him out. Um, so we’ll see. I mean, I think regular season, we should be fine. Um, there’s going to be better teams in the East. New York is definitely tough. We’ll see. We actually open tomorrow night with the seventy six ers. And LeBron um they just got the job done. The seventy six ers did against the Knicks last night in Madison Square Garden. Uh so that will be one of our like three nationally televised games against the Sixers just to shove it in our face because we didn’t get LeBron this year. Um but I think we’re going to be good overall. And I just I really appreciate Donovan Mitchell. I know at times I think oh maybe we should just trade him because we’re not good enough. But at the end of the day, having an athlete that enjoys being in your city has signed extensions is very clear. Like I just want to be here is refreshing. Um, and so I’ll appreciate it and enjoy it because he is a really good player. Um, it’s just a matter of can he get back healthy and explosive. I didn’t really see it as much last year. Yeah. Yeah. I he’s a fun player. Um, when he’s on and I tell you what was it the, was it the last game against the Pistons when Jared Allen was just feasting. Oh yeah. And uh the Raptors as well where he was just screaming go home. Yeah. Yes it was, it was the vibes were great. It’s a fun team. And like you said the fact that Donovan Mitchell is bought in. Um, it’s it’s a good watch. I would encourage our listeners to check out if you’re able to check out at least some cavalier highlights, uh, over the season because it’s a really fun team to follow. Yeah, for sure. And then some other teams that I’m interested in. Um, I marked down the Washington Wizards, uh, some, it’s a team that we covered here at Missouri Sports Co. They’ve got Trae Young top pick AJ Ansah as well as Anthony Davis. So that’s a decent core. Like that’s not bad. Um Timberwolves were playing tonight with Anthony Edwards and Lonzo Ball which I don’t know. Lonzo ball is really good offensively. He’s I I don’t know chaotic. I don’t know what he’s going to bring. Yep. Um I also wrote down the the Lakers like I don’t even understand what they’re doing with Luka. They’ve got Reaves Kessler Laravia and Grimes as starters. Like I know Reaves and Kessler. But I’m like, what? These are not three and D players, so I don’t know what they’re doing. I don’t get it either. Yeah. Setting up the returns. Zach uh, two summers from now, uh, you just gotta get rid of the owners. They need to sell the team and leave forever. Yep. Yep. Um, Miami is also one that I’m interested in. Bam and Giannis. I don’t really understand that fit either. It seems like two. Yeah. Giant forwards. I don’t I don’t know. Like they’re good but I don’t know how they mesh on a basketball court. And then the one thing that stuck out to me, you know watching some of the game last night, how in the world did the Thunder get Mara, the seven foot giant from Michigan? He should have gone to the Mavericks. I wanted him to go to the Mavericks. He’s on the freaking Thunder. And he’s digging up, um, Wembanyama because he’s huge and he’s really skilled down low. I know I don’t think after the trade deadline that Chet Holmgren is on the is on the Thunder, I think that was, uh, we’re ready to move on from Chet. I think the fans are ready to move on. I think they were kind of fed up with him after that, uh, conference final series last Lastly, I just I think they’re ready to move on. Yeah, he’s, uh, definitely more finesse at that size and he’s going to be expensive at this point. So yes, he will be one other team that I’ll throw out there. Uh, I think it’s super fun. Even though he’s circumvented the cap a little bit. Uh, Kawhi back with the Raptors. Uh, I think that’s a team to watch. They just destroyed the very bad Chicago Bulls. Um, but I think that’s an interesting team. RJ Barrett Scottie Barnes that’s a that could be a fun team to watch. Because when Kawhi I know he’s he’s had injuries the past few seasons. But he had one of like the best seasons statistically, uh, that we’ve seen in his career just recently. So he’s still playing phenomenal basketball. Oh yeah. They’re a scary team for sure.
